"Mar” è un omaggio al mare: il viaggio solitario
nell’immenso blu dell’oceano.
La figura solitaria rappresenta un ideale malinconico; l’uomo come il pesce preferisce restare in un ambiente familiare, inconsapevole di
ciò che accade al di fuori del suo mondo.
Nonostante la luminosità proveniente dal cielo, il soggetto sceglie di nuotare nell’oscurità del mare, ancorato alle sue inconsapevoli certezze.
La pennellata risulta frenetica e meno sfumata mentre l'artista, Vincenzo Gallo, si concentra sulla resa atmosferica al fine di creare un ambiente temporalesco. Gli schizzi si percepiscono attraverso le differenti sfumature di blu che interagiscono tra loro; la luce sembra trapelare tra le nuvole illuminando i giochi d’acqua delle gocce di pioggia.
La linea dell’orizzonte pende verso destra quasi a guidare l’occhio dell’osservatore e dirigerlo nel lento movimento orizzontale del pesce. La pen-denza percorre tutta la lunghezza del quadro che si estende nella sua orizzontalità creando un percorso visivo lento e cadenzato, interrotto solo dalla verticalità delle pennellate che disegnano l’atmosfera e la pioggia.
“Mar” is a homage to the sea: the solitary voyage to the sea in the vast blue ocean.
The solitary figure represents a melancholic ideal; the man, like the fish, prefers to remain in a familiar environment, unaware of what happens outside of his world. Despite the brightness coming from the sky, the subject chooses to swim in the darkness of the sea, anchored to his unconscious certainties. The brushstroke is frenetic and less nuanced while the artist, Vincenzo Gallo, focuses on atmospheric rendering to create a temporal environment. The splashes are perceived through the different shades of blue that interact with each other; the light seems to leak through the clouds illuminating the water effects of the raindrops. The horizon line hangs to the right almost to guide the eye of the observer and direct it into the slow horizontal movement of the fish. The pendence runs the entire length of the picture which extends in its horizontality creating a slow and cadenced visual path, interrupted only by the verticality of the strokes they draw the atmosphere and the rain.
