Aurélie Bayet Belgium Painting

It is said that the first night between Anthony and Cleopatra took place on a bed covered in rose petals.

"Nature morte" is a series of paintings that deals with tragedy in the broad sense, with lovers' passion, and with the disillusionment of the end of a world.

It's a political vision, ecological and contemporarily romantic, an apology for the representation of the inanimate.

These roses were alive, and here they are- withered and covered with a thick, greasy layer of black ink, practically tar. What could be more dead?
